DELRAY BEACH POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION RANGE SAFETY RULES
(DON'T BE SORRY, BE CAREFUL)
- DUE TO LIABILITY CONSIDERATIONS, ALL MEMBERS AND SPECTATORS MUST SIGN IN (DATE AND TIME) UPON ARRIVAL AND OUT AT TIME OF DEPARTURE.
- FIRST MEMBER ON THE RANGE IS THE RANGE SAFETY OFFICER (RSO), AND MEMBERS MUST OBEY THE RSO - NO EXCEPTIONS. THE RSO MAY RELINQUISH RANGE SAFETY OFFICER DUTIES TO ANOTHER MEMBER. IF PRESENT; A CERTIFIED RANGE SAFETY OFFICER (CRSO) MAY TAKE OVER RANGE SAFETY OFFICER DUTIES AT ANY TIME.
- EYE AND EAR PROTECTION MUST BE WORN WHILE RANGE IS IN USE.
- PROPER ATTIRE IS MANDATORY; NO OPEN SHOES OR TANK TOPS.
- NO SMOKING, FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED ON RANGE DUE TO THE DANGER OF LEAD CONTAMINATION.
- LOADED FIREARMS ARE ONLY PERMITTED ON RANGE FIRING LINE AND ONLY WHEN ALLOWED BY THE RSO.
- DO NOT HANDLE FIREARMS OR LOAD MAGAZINES WHEN SOMEONE IS DOWN RANGE.
- ONLY PAPER TARGETS AND BALLOONS ARE PERMITTED.
- BE SURE YOU USE ONLY DELRAY PBA APPROVED CALIBERS. (SEE LIST)
- LOAD THE RIGHT SIZE AMMUNITION AND ONLY WHEN READY TO FIRE.
- ALL LOADED FIREARMS MUST BE POINTED DOWN RANGE.
- THE SOUND OF A BELL, WHISTLE, A MEMBER SEEING A SAFETY VIOLATION OR RANGE SAFETY OFFICER CALLING CEASE FIRE - THE SHOOTERS ARE TO STOP SHOOTING IMMEDIATELY. CEASE FIRE MEANS - STOP SHOOTING IMMEDIATELY AND REMOVE ALL AMMUNITION FROM FIREARM. OPEN CYLINDER AND REMOVE ALL CARTRIDGES; OR LOCK BACK SLIDE AND REMOVE MAGAZINE AND LAY FIREARM ON TABLE. FIREARM MUST BE POINTED DOWN RANGE!
- NEVER LAY A LOADED FIREARM DOWN; UNLOAD IT BEFORE LAYING IT DOWN.
- UNCONTROLLED RAPID FIRE IS NOT PERMITTED.
- IF A MALFUNCTION OCCURS AND CAN'T BE CLEARED, KEEP MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE AND HOLD HAND UP TO NOTIFY RANGE SAFETY OFFICER. DO NOT WALK AROUND WITH JAMMED FIREARM WAIT FOR RSO TO COME TO YOU.
- CLEAN UP WHEN FINISHED!! DISPOSE OF SWEEPINGS IN THE APPROPRIATE BARRELS.
- BE CERTAIN THE SIDE DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.
